224-238 Kensington High St, London

Melanin gals & Pals held Skate Activation at the Design Museum that started on the winter period up until the April.

it consisted of Workshops , Skate Sessions and this allowed attendees to see BIPOC & Marginal identities contributing to the trajectory of Skating.

During the Winter break , 27.12.23-7.01.24,  MSGP offered skate sessions at the Design Museum's own skate park ! We had qualified Coaches from MSGP that helped help beginner skaters , also helped all attendees overcome any barriers they have in skating and most importantly encouraged skaters to have fun learning a new skill !

Hop King Takeover ——

Saturday 12 November 2023

16 DRUID STREET , London

We held the first of many skate meet for BIPOC skaters and Roller Skaters of all ability levels at Hop King.

The function of the space is very versatile and honestly a nice hang out spot, we want everyone that is Queer BIPOC to feel comfortable and able to Skate !

Hop king has the space to combine skating and Djing and there isn’t a lot of spaces that champion BIPOC comfort.

End of Summer Party ——

Sunday 17 September 2023

Factory 15 , London

Our end of Summer Party had so many Talented artists , Market Vendors , where creativity met compassion. It was a wholesome day where we could discover everyones unique talents and contributions to MSGP’s vibrant community !

Watch talented Salma perform! a prime example of having a space that celebrated our community and watching people in our community shine is such a undermined priviledge!

MSGP X UK Black Pride ——

Saturday 19 August 2023

Queen Elisabeth Olympic Park

Uk Black Pride champions and celebrates LGBTQIA+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern identity. Last year UK Black Pride was held at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and it was such a rewarding and affirming experience to witness BIPOC love.

MSGP also shares the same core values with Uk Black Pride in terms of realising the significance of having a space for marginal identities , This spirit was amplified at the panel talk where we got to talk about our ethos as a Organisation that centres on ending social isolation, providing opportunities to BPOC and queer folks !

MSGP SECOND BIRTTHDAY ——

Friday 11 August 2023

Yard Theatre , London

MSGP celebrated their Second birthday at the Yard Theatre !

Two years of validating Queer BIPOC Identities , creating spaces for BIPOC identities where they can thrive and also bringing opportunities to have access to physical sport through Skating.

The event was beautiful , we were platforming Fem and Non binary DJ’s of colour including Zuleha that we trained !

Having our second birthday was a reminder that we can contribute to ending the active marginalisation of BIPOC individuals and also achieve way more than White cis male skaters or even more !

A wonderful two years of fighiting against the Patriarchy

Go skateboarding day ——

Wednesday 21 June 2023

Leake Street , London

Go Skateboarding day is a day where we celebrate skateboarding and the creative dynamism it bring to our lives !

Witnessing a diversity of Genders skating on the day is very inspiring and needed , we really want to break the barriers and celebrate the act of skating , skating is for all and all should be celebrated.

There were competitions and overall a community ambiance. It’s good to remind ourselves that skating has it’s own avid community but we will always advocate for underrepresented identities!

MSGP Skate Brooklyn ——

Sunday 11 June 2023

Skate Brooklyn

MSGP goal for this trip was to connect with other BPOC/QTPOC/Queer communities in New York and share the message that we need a safer skate scene for all.

We were able to meet more of NYC Skate community and connect with like minded skate collectives.

Being able to tackle Social isolation on an international level highlights the importance of making skating accessible.

We had our own DJ’s at Skate Brooklyn to bring the vibes and it was such a jovial moment !

NYC Panel Talk , Vans ——

Tuesday 6 June 2023

Vans skate space 198, NY 11237

Through our brand collaborations with other organisations we are able to raise awareness about the importance of safe(r) spaces and social justice.

Together we can spread the words and elevate messages about togetherness, inclusivity, belonging and safety. Outreach to people for our consent survey and raise awareness on building an international skate community . The Skate Panel talk focused on Safety and Consent something that is overlooked in the skate scene and more the reasons to dismantle the patriarchy.

It was also nice to witness how skating is nourished in NYC , having the event at Vans skate park was a beautiful space where we also got to understand the ethos behind Harold Hunter’s Foundation.

Harold Hunters Foundation supports City kids that want to skate , they do this through employability opportunities and advocacy.

This was an trip that made us realise the importance of connection , no matter how far the passion and advocacy can blur any distance.
